Vitamins - Question for those that have done research

I will probably post on the main site but wanted to ask my Cali friends first.

My Nut recommended a vitamin Optisource as my chewable centrum lacks selenium.
Its pricey but that is not my concern.  It lacks in a few areas where my centrum does not and i would have to take more.  So didnt seem right.
I am seeking advice regarding the most complete vitamin regimen.  I have to simplify this box that became a tray and is now taking over my kitchen counter of bottles and pills but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

I did some searching on OH and found some older posts from those who seemed to do their research and had numbers to back up their opinion, but they didn't appear to be active now and they only stated what vitamins are not good choices, not what they recommend or take and why.

I've also seen some topics written about on the other sections of the site but the recommendations stated some inadequate amounts of some nutrients.

I'm using a liquid calcium citrate but have been taking it wrong.  I am hoping to find a chewable or liquid vitamin as horsepills are getting really hard to choke down.

Anyone who has already gone through this and found the perfect combo of all supplemental needs in adequate amounts....can you advise?
I do know calcium citrate vs. carbonate and other than that im pretty green in this area.

Thanks

Debbie

I may not be much help but I'm almost 4 years out and have never been able to find a consistent answer.

My Kaiser center recommends to take B1, Vit A, calcium, and a multi

I take one Centrum a day
3 Calciums throughout the day (Members Mark from Sams)
B1
Vit A

HI Gus
That's why I'm asking.....even within Kaiser there seems to be so many different recommendations.
we are told to have double the dose of the adult dose for vitamins so atleast 2 vitamins per day.
If i were taking pills for calcium I would be taking 6 per day (no room for food!)
I havent heard anything about B1 unless that is thiamin which I'm getting in a small super B complex pill but im not supplementing Vit A except whats in my multi.
Does anyone know of a chart with each nutrient spelled out rather than just a double dose of a multi vitamins........they differ in what the multi's have in them?

I dont want to deal with deficiencys when its to late to correct the damage.

Prior to surgery I was contacted by my surgeon's office and told my B1 level was low. Their recommendation was to begin B complex immediately.

You could always just add in a selenium pill.  I take one....

Yeah I've considered that too.  I'm almost out of my vitamins and was just hoping there was a vitamin regimen out there that didn't add more pills to my already pill heavy schedule.  I'm shocked there is not an all inclusive vitamin.........i'd pay extra for the simplicity

Here's my list,

I take two multi vitamins a day
1 vitamin E
2000 mg of Calicum citrate
1000 units of Vit D
2000 mg of Vit C, at least for the winter
1 iron pill
I take B12 3 times a week
also 1 iron pill at nite.

that's it....as for the multi-vitamin I take a strong one gel cap.
I will find out what my labs are within the month, they I will readjust.

Good luck, Diane

My multi says it has 125% of Vit D. I take Centrum Silver, recommended by my pharmacist.

1 Singular for allergies (Rx)

Lunch
Centrum chewable multi vitamin (Safeway or WalMart)
iron (WalMart)
sublingual B-12 (WalMart)

Bedtime

Biotin (WalMart)

Hope this helps!

Hugs,
Barb

Thanks Barb.  Im taking the same multi as you but it has no selenium in it.
I wish when we're told to take a multi they would be more specific about what has to be in it.  I'm adding a selenium until I find something that includes it.

Im going to check into those petites.  Thanks
Deb
